Design Educator, RISD / Founder, Bobbi Jarvis Design, LLC
Bobbi Jarvis is a Design Educator teaching such courses as Design Thinking, Toy Design, Design Lab and Product Design to students from Kindergarten through graduate school. She has taught her “Toy Design is Child’s Play” program at various schools throughout Rhode Island including Rockwell School, Reynolds Arts Magnet School, The Northern Lincoln Early Learning Center and St. Michael’s Country Day School. She has been a Designer-in-Residence with RISD’s Project Open Door program as well as an instructor for RISD’s Continuing Education Dept. for the last several years.
In the summer of 2016, Bobbi and her husband Brian taught a highly reviewed travel study course for RISD undergrad students in Germany entitled “Nuremberg: Purposeful Play and Toy Design”. Bobbi recently had the pleasure of teaching “Design Education Studio Workshop” for RISD’s Department of Teaching + Learning in Art + Design graduate program.
Bobbi Jarvis Design and Awards
Bobbi is the founder of Bobbi Jarvis Design, LLC working for such companies as Hasbro Toys, Fisher-Price, Little Tikes, Nike and Converse. When she was an employee of Hasbro Toys, Bobbi received various awards for her toy designs including the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Seal, Sesame Street Parent Top Toy Award and Family Fun Magazine Toy of the Year Runner Up. Bobbi has been a presenter at several design educator workshops including at the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, the RI Art Educator’s Conference, Boston Public Schools and the Providence Art Club.
Bobbi is currently a Moderator for the Hasbro Toy Company’s Funlab doing Market Testing and interactive child observations. Bobbi is a 1987 graduate of RIT with a BA in Industrial Design and a member of the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society.
Exercise Breaks in the Classroom™
Bobbi is also the founder of “Exercise Breaks in the Classroom™”, an educational workshop and classroom materials company. Her program has been adopted by hundreds of classrooms throughout the US. She has been a keynote speaker and workshop presenter at several conferences including “Learning & the Brain” in San Francisco, The New England School Nurse-Teacher Conference, the RI Healthy Schools Coalition and RIAHPERD. She lives in Bristol, RI with her equally creative husband and two fabulous children.
