He has managed a multi-million dollar permanent exhibit space, temporary exhibit spaces, created engaging exhibits for National Parks and Monuments, Universities, the Department of Defense and museums throughout the U.S. He’s been employed as a lecturer by local universities including RIT, Syracuse University and Cornell University where his product design class will be the first of its kind for Cornell’s Department of Design and Environmental Analysis, incorporating industrial design standards with entrepreneurial practices.
Currently he and his wife, Lisa St. John, have been working with many local companies to develop these companies brand identities. They strive to accurately tell the story of the company throughout the entire customer experience and to make their design and their employers story accessible to all.
Purity Ice Cream
Purity Ice Cream Co. has been a staple in Ithaca, NY since 1936. After meeting the new owners of the store, St. John Design began a full re-branding of the Company. They worked on every aspect from graphics and packaging, to website design and store design for the newly renovated building in Ithaca. They strove to keep the feel of the landmark, while incorporating new ideas to both increase the experience of the customer and expand the business of the company.
Pete and Lisa took great care into addressing the smallest details and total experience of the design. By opening up the cooking preparation area to the dining area, they allow for the fresh smells of pancakes to permeate the entire shop. And a reorganization of traffic by changing the entrance to the store and the location of display cases makes the buy experience quicker and easier for all customers.
